And that dear readers, is the end of Book 1. Join us in a month and a half for the beginning of My Life at War Book 2!
Thanks for reading (no seriously, seeing that someone else enjoys what we do is fan-fucking-tastic. You are awesome and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.)

Nooooo!
As much as I do enjoy it, got dang y’all! leaving us on a cliffhanger here!
man you’re making us build up the tension for a week n a half!!!
goodness whatever y’all put out then is gonna be soooo awesome!
as always thanks for putting this lovely work out there!
I’ll bet real money that it’s ground pounding, infantry babes. The hotties in heart shaped sunglasses we saw at the beginning of ch.1? Y’know the one’s Betsy threatened to stomp.
I’d say you’re right.
oh yeah, ure prolly right : )
‘Target killed. Proceed to the next pod. Open this hatch!’ – well, doesn’t sound like Vulture made it. And it certainly sounds as if they’re deliberately killing ejected pilots. I can’t say that the ‘honor’ and ‘nobility’ of the Dhuvalians is impressing me, here.
Thank you for the translation. And, for my part at least, I understand that concepts such as honour are a hindrance in war. Slaughtering the pilots has a two-fold effect: 1) removing the enemy’s skilled pilots, forcing them to rely on inexperienced ones, assuming they have any; and 2) really hurting enemy morale.
“So, we’re fighting an enemy we can’t see, who has superior LIMBs, and will undoubtedly kill us, even if we can’t fight back? Suddenly want to risk breaking contract.”
Honor and nobility has nothing to do with humane treatment of POWs, just look at Imperial Japan’s conduct in the second Sino-Japanese war and WW2.
Also it’s not established currently whether there is any international laws or convention in place for regulating warfare in the MLAW world, whether the parties are signatories of one and whether they regulate mercenaries or not.
Without more info, this incident can be anything ranging from standard practice to some grunts getting some private revenge when the higher ups are out of sight.
You also want to keep in mind that the 1st IRB hasn’t taken one prisoner themselves.
Does beg the question, doesn’t it: What the hell is the company policy on prisoners?
That is… complicated, but we’ll get into it eventually.
And this thought just occurred to me (a touch sad it took this long, but anyway) : Killing the pilots/knocking out the Fat Birds is probably the only sound way to actually win a quick victory, and avoid getting bogged down in a long war of attrition. One of the earlier comics made it seem that Dizzy could expect to get back in the fight very quickly, indicating that Fat Bird a) has a lot of LIMBs ready and waiting for pilots, b) excellent repair facilities, or c) both. Killing the downed pilots might seem harsh, but it may be the only way to efficiently win the war.
Honor = burn villages, kill peasants, rape their women
No…
it’s
kill the peasants
pillage/plunder
rape survivors
THEN burn the effing village, you f.u.n.g.ies are so silly.
;^)
remember pillage then burn
f.u.n.g.ies?
I don’t mean to be a stick in the mud, but let’s try to keep the rape humor to a minimum. This is all well and good, I just don’t want it to go any further (because in that direction lies darkness).
Well, of course. The peasants aren’t people, after all.
Haven’t seen any 1IRB honor yet either, haven’t seem them do this, but then noone’s tried to surrender to them.
I notice that Betsy-Ray’s multi has a lot of red on it. Does that mean she’s merely out of contact with the wireless signal, or is it basically saying “LIMB disabled”?
Good eye! The Rank-Stat is actually throwing an error because it lost its signal.
Her face also has a lot of red on it!
Might it be one of the Bulls? possibly the one she spoke to earlier?
Seems unlikely. She liked Amalia, at least as much as she likes anyone. This doesn’t seem to be a person she’s too fond of.
Naw, this be one of the gun tote’n barbies.
What’s the money on Kevin?
