Senior Associate

Beyond your job title, please explain your role at Creative.

I support our programs by collecting and disseminating research and recommending evidence-based practices concerning literacy, multilingual education, teacher training and coaching support, assessments, and educational policy and systems support. As Project Director, I supervise senior staff, assist in resourcing short-term technical assistance (STTA), and build strategic relationships with partners and clients. I also deliver direct technical oversight and guidance to the design and implementation of the program, ensuring all contract deliverables are met and best practices are incorporated into program strategies and plans.

Do you have a favorite, unique or fascinating story about your work in development?

I love my work. I have changed my career several times over the past two decades. I started out as a graphic designer and self-taught web developer, spent several years teaching English as a Second Language and as an adult literacy program coordinator, before moving into international education development and, specifically, early grade literacy. I am engaged by the challenges of international development – learning new languages, embracing new cultures, new areas of work and diverse teams. My path has given me an appreciation of new experiences, shown the value of moving outside of comfort zones, and the importance of being surprised (and when the surprise is perhaps unwanted, responding with resilience.)
